Robin Williams Tribute Mani

FINALLY!

I received my Genie, You're Free! polish in the mail! I finally got to do a proper mani to honor the great Robin Williams.

The base colour I used is Julep's India... woah. Absolutely stunning. I'm in love.

And then I added Genie, You're Free! by Liquid Sky Lacquer!

I'm so happy I was finally able to do this, and I'm also happy it came out so well!!
Please excuse my pre-cleanup look, I was just super excited and OF COURSE while on the way back inside I ruined my mani, so that wouldn't have been fun to photograph.

Overall I'm SUPER happy with this tribute and mani in general. I adore both polishes so, so much. R.I.P Robin Williams, you have always been loved and will always be missed.

Robin Williams Tribute by Liquid Sky Lacquer

Alright, I've been bad. I did not post this when I should have.

On August 11th, we lost a legend. A truly incredible, talented, hilarious person that we all knew and loved. Robin Williams will never be forgotten.

I was very upset upon hearing the news. I didn't know what to feel. I've never personally known or met Robin, but I grew up watching his movies. He was always a staple in comedy. I didn't know how to feel, so my immediate thought was - how can I personally honor him? So I thought, a mani!  I tried doing a Genie inspired mani but it didn't turn out the way I wanted it. I was extremely disappointed.

I ONLY took a picture of this mani to show my boyfriend, Ricky, why I didn't like it. That's why it's such a bad picture. I immediately took it off, determined to try something else.
I went through many thought processes and many manis and was never truly satisfied.
I ended up doing a blue and green alternating mani to represent Genie and Flubber, however it was very poorly done after the hours of trying so I did not take a picture.

THAT'S WHEN THIS HAPPENED:

Liquid Sky Lacquer made a trio of polishes solely dedicated to Robin Williams. AND, ALL proceeds are going towards charity! 50% to Families For Depression Awareness and 50% to National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. Depression and suicide related things are VERY close to my heart. No words can express how thrilled I was to come upon this.

This was posted here, with all the information.

The reason I am bad is because I did not post this with the information when it was announced. There was a specific release time with a certain amount being sold. At the time I was very busy with work, I even had to get someone to order for me. (I got a mini Genie polish... Canadian shipping isn't in my budget above what I spent)

So basically she sold them like this..

Mini - $13.10
Full Size - $25

Genie, You're Free is a sheer blue jelly with black, red, and blue hexes of different sizes with fine holo gold hex.
Mini - $4.75
Full Size - $9

I <3 You With Every Cell, Every Atom is a glitter bomb with neon green, red, black, and white hexes of different sizes.
Mini - $4.75
Full Size - $9

O Captain! My Captain! is a glitter bomb with black, red, white, and gray hex glitters in different sizes.
Mini - $4.75
Full Size - $9

I highly recommend you purchase from her, specifically these polishes to help VERY important causes that don't get enough recognition, and to remember and honor an incredible human being. Once I receive my Genie, You're Free! polish, I WILL do a mani and post it.

Thank you so much Liquid Sky Lacquer for doing this. It means a lot to many people. I hope someday I can afford the other two.

Julep & Discounted Retired Polishes - Savvy Deals

Hey hey hey!

I have some information that SHOULD have been good news, but unfortunately for me turned out to be bad news. Julep brought back some VERY loved polishes that have been retired/unavailable for forever. (yes, for forever.) AT CHEAPER PRICES. $4.99!! Exciting right!? .... Maybe if they didn't sell out within 2-3 hours. Seriously.

I woke up at 6:20am EST to get ready for work. I read about the deal on Julep Swap on my way to work, and since I couldn't do anything I made a post asking for someone to send me a list of the polishes and order the ones I wanted for me and I'd pay them back when I got off work. I took my break at 9am EST and everything I wanted was out of stock. Every single thing that I wanted but could never get because it disappeared from the purchasing world. Out of stock. Within hours.

So despite my anger/frustration with this at the moment, let me show you what they have!(/had)

Anything there that you were ISO? Check the website out to see if it's in stock here! Although I did warn you and will warn you again that a lot of the polishes are out of stock. Who can resist $4.99 polishes? You can also get the mystery gift for free if you spend $50+ using the code SAVVYGIFT.
For anyone who knew about this earlier like I did, did you get what you wanted or did you get screwed over by the wrath of superspeedy people and low stock?

I must make a confession though, I made a purchase. Billie Jean, Etta and Leslie. Oops! ;) Only Etta was on my ISO list but hey, the other two were deals! And pretty!

I finally decided to use my Rainbow Honey mini.. my first Rainbow Honey mani!

My nails and mani are messed up because I was opening a package so... yeah. My poor pinky :(

Despite my mess up, I LOOOOVE it! It was a two thin coat-er. Totally gorgeous colour. I'm in love. I now need more Rainbow Honey minis :)

Would you recommend it? Yes!

NYC Smooth Skin BB Creme Review

I finally tried one of my new products!

I bought NYC Smooth Skin BB Creme because when I go to work, I don't like wearing heavy foundations. I bought this specific one because... it was on sale.
It was about $5, it's available in two shades: Light and Medium.
It claims to..
  • Minimize pores
  • Erase skin imperfections, minimize fine lines
  • Smooth skin
  • Brighten skin for natural luminosity
  • Help protect skin from the ravages of the city
  • Last up to 14 hours

I like the way it applied. Here are some pictures

This is me without any makeup.. Lord help us all.

This is me with the BB Creme on. You can tell it covered up decently well. It's the tiniest bit too dark but I can deal with that. I thought the coverage would have been greater but with a bit of concealer it's okay!

This is after hours when my makeup was fully done. It stayed well!

I think it does help minimize pores, erase skin imperfections (a little bit), it doesn't smooth my skin too much, it does brighten my overall appearance, I don't know what it protects me from and it has lasted quite a few hours.
Overall, I like the BB Creme. I was hoping for a bit more coverage and maybe a biiiit lighter of a colour, but for $5 it was great! I will definitely use the rest of it up, and probably buy more!

Would you recommend it? Yes, but it is the only one I've tried so..
